As will be seen by the photos, the building was handed over to the CMC today Friday 26th February. The Certificate of Practical Completion has been received along with the Certificate of Occupancy. The building manuals, as built drawings, both hard and soft copy were handed over to me by the construction Project Manager.  The range of photos covers the keys handover as well as the foundation stone in place in the foyer.

We intend nominating the building for a number of awards and we should all be very proud of the finished product as delivered by our builders HDL Projects ACT. We congratulate all those HDL staff who have gone out of their way to produce such a magnificent landmark building at such a prestigious address.

The building has been completed on budget and earlier than first anticipated.

The news on tenants is also promising. We have submitted a proposal to the Building Services group that handle all Commonwealth properties in Canberra for a Government Business Enterprise to take a sizeable chuck of the leasable space. The tenders close next week for the letting of the cafe/restaurant on the National Circuit frontage and we remain confident that the remainder of the building will be let in the short term.

We are confident that once the cornerstone tenant has been signed the amount set aside in the loan agreement for the 6th floor Masonic Centre fitout will be released by the Bank and work can commence.

All future postings on the Centre progress, I will leave in the capable hands of RW Bro Mike Dalton, who the Board has appointed to head up the committee that will decide on the fitout detail. As stated by Mike in his initial report (see the CMC 6th Floor page at left), the CMC Board will have oversight of the final decisions of the committee ensuring that we meet the many objectives we have in the operations of the centre in particular and the building in general.

On behalf of the Board, I hope the information and photos we have presented on this information website have informed the Brethren of the ACT and others, of our progress over the last 18 months of the construction program.
