This Lodge is the oldest in
Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs area. It was originally formed under the Grand
Lodge of the English Constitution being No. 2161 of that Constitution.
The first meeting of the Lodge was held on 20th March,
1886.
The Lodge was named after John Williams , who at that time was
District Grand Master of the Colony of New South Wales under the
jurisdiction of the Grand Lodge of England.
At the Lodge’s December meeting, members bring along a
wrapped gift (preferably of some special treat to eat or drink) to be
placed under the “Lodge John Williams Christmas Tree”.
A raffle follows until all presents/prizes are won and the proceeds
are divided between the major Masonic Charities.
Today the Lodge has over 70 subscribing members and
boasts good attendance of between 20 & 30 brethren at its meetings
which are held on the
third Monday of each month. The officers are
occupied with both experienced PMs and progressive MMs.
