As of the 22nd May, the construction has reached the first of three major milestones. On Wednesday 20th May, commencing at 6.30 am and completed by 2pm, some 620 cubic metres of concrete were laid to form the ground floor of the new building.
Prior to that day, the two lower car park floors were completed and the ground floor form work incorporating much reinforcing steel and steel cables for later stressing the slab, were laid.
The latest pictures of the slab pouring tell the story of a successful day in the Project. Further pictures will be available later next week that were taken from the tower crane.
The Project remains on track for completion in February with the likelihood of some further time being gained now that the ground floor slab has been completed. The next floor is planned to be poured just prior to the stone setting ceremony with further floors being added each month.
The news on finding a suitable tenant for the bulk of the building is now very positive. The previous prediction that the Federal budget would provide funding certainty to Government agencies has been fulfilled and negotiations have commenced in earnest with a number of potential tenants.
If you plan to attend the Stone Setting ceremony on the 6th June please be prepared to form up in the Macquarie Street carpark at 2.30pm. All present will then march from the carpark to the front of the new building. Dress is lounge suit with regalia. The ceremony will commence at 3pm.
The celebratory dinner will be held at Brassey House that night and you will need to have completed the booking form and prepaid as per the details on the Region 10 website.
