Progress Report—29 November 2009
From the Chairman of the Board
RW Bro Greg Nason PSGW
The construction continues and current planning will see the building basically complete before Christmas. The tower crane was dismantled on Saturday 28 November so the building is looking less like a construction site. The floors continue to have painting completed, ceiling tiles installed and carpet tiles laid.
Electrical, mechanical and hydraulic services are now 95% completed with the outside paving commencing this week. Landscaping will be commenced in the next week and the main entrance airlock installed.
The Board conducted a successful AGM last Tuesday 24th November. Our Real Estate Agents addressed the regular monthly Board meeting following the AGM. The news remains positive on an agreement with a major tenant shortly and we will bring you information of this as it occurs. This building will provide the only new office space in Barton in 2010 and we need to be patient as we wait for lessees to take up the vacant space.
Those of you who have seen the building first hand will agree how stunning it looks and it will be a credit to Freemasonry in Canberra when fully occupied and operating—both as a home for Canberra Freemasons and those commercial tenants who will take up the office space created in such a landmark position in Barton.
I hope to be able to post more photos this week as they come to hand and any news on the leasing will be published as it occurs.
