interAction Grant to Malkara Special School
Malkara is a preschool and primary school for students who have moderate to severe intellectual disabilities. A number of students also have varying degrees of physical and emotional disabilities. The students range in age from 3 to 12 years. Students are grouped into four areas in the school, early childhood, junior primary, middle primary and senior primary.
Each year the Malkara School runs its well known and principal fund raising event – the Malkara Model Railway and Scale Exhibition and Lodge Capitol 612 assists each year by running the BBQ and Hot Dog stands – an integral part of the Exhibition's fund raising activities. In 2007, the Lodge applied for and received an interAction grant of $5,000 towards the purchase of a specialised school bus which, with the funds raised by the stand, contributed over 10% towards the cost of the bus. The photos below were taken at the bus' launch on 6 April 2009.
